At SSM Health DePaul Hospital, we believe that nursing is more than just a job; it's a calling. We are looking for a dedicated Wound Care Registered Nurse to implement and evaluate our evidence-based wound and ostomy care programs, ensuring exceptional clinical outcomes for our patients.

Position Overview:

As a Wound Care Registered Nurse, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough evaluations of patients across all age groups who are referred for wound, ostomy, and continence care; collaborating with healthcare professionals to facilitate timely interventions.
  • Utilizing the nursing process to create, communicate, and implement personalized care plans for patients at risk of skin breakdown; following up to assess care effectiveness.
  • Performing pre-operative stoma site marking and assisting with debridement procedures as per provider orders.
  • Designing comprehensive patient and family education on wound and ostomy management tailored to individual learning needs and cultural beliefs.
  • Coordinating discharge plans that incorporate ongoing wound and ostomy care needs and communicating effectively with all team members involved.
  • Staying updated with the latest research to inform best practices in wound, ostomy, and continence care, contributing to the development of policies and standards.
  • Participating in resource utilization evaluations to optimize wound and ostomy product usage and support services.
  • Engaging in the education of multidisciplinary team members regarding effective management of wounds, ostomies, and continence issues.
  • Maintaining a safe and alert working environment at all times.
  • Carrying out additional relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Experience:
No prior experience is required.

Physical Requirements:
Your role will involve:

  • Continuous communication through speaking and listening.
  • Regular standing and walking.
  • Lifting and carrying objects up to 25 lbs frequently; occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of vision and sensory skills for patient evaluations.
  • Occasional driving and movement of patients.

Licensure and Certifications:
Must possess the following certifications based on your state of work location:
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Nurse (RN) license from the appropriate state regulatory body or a Compact state.

Work Schedule: Day Shift (40 hours per week).
