Job Title: Senior Kitchen Manager

Location: Lacey, WA

Pay: Starts at $85,000

Job Summary

The Senior Kitchen Manager is responsible for ensuring that all products and services meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role oversees kitchen production operations, ensures compliance with food safety regulations, and supports operational efficiency while maintaining high service standards. The position plays a key role in coordinating production activities, managing staff, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations within the kitchen department.
  • Communicate regularly with clients via professional email correspondence.
  • Plan and coordinate daily production schedules, including participation in pre-production planning to organize and align all aspects of production.
  • Implement and monitor production schedules to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ensure production targets and customer requirements are met in a timely manner.
  • Maintain professional email communication and documentation standards.
  • Enforce quality control procedures and plant quality standards.
  • Manage and maintain quality inspection programs and product standards.
  • Monitor, enforce, and continuously improve the facility’s HACCP program.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local food safety regulations.
  • Promote and evaluate adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Follow all applicable food safety requirements and sanitation standards.
  • Ensure workplace safety, production standards, and sanitation protocols are consistently followed.
  • Oversee order fulfillment processes to maintain a high level of customer service.
  • Support service quality by enforcing operational policies and procedures.
  • Assign employee duties and coordinate work schedules, including breaks, shifts, and vacation coverage
  • Conduct periodic employee performance evaluations in accordance with HR policies.
  • Assist warehouse supervisors and associates with departmental procedures and operational policies.
  • Address customer concerns and complaints by reviewing discrepancy reports and implementing appropriate resolutions.
  • Foster positive working relationships with clients through effective issue resolution and communication.
  • Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure quality and productivity standards are consistently maintained.
  • Maintain flexibility to work varying shifts based on operational needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by distribution center or operations leadership.

Minimum Requirements

  • HACCP, PCQI, and SQF certifications required.
  • Full compliance with FDA and USDA regulations.
  • Proven experience working with local health departments and managing product recalls, internal audits, and external audits.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently while implementing and supervising warehouse data entry systems.
  • High level of computer proficiency and Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience.
  • Some college coursework preferred, or equivalent experience in warehouse supervision and the wholesale or food distribution industry.

Education and Experience

  • Some college-level education in management or related field preferred, or
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in warehouse or food processing environments.

Computer Skills

  • Strong computer proficiency required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

Reasoning and Leadership Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse workforce.
