Job Description

Responsibilities Conduct fire prevention inspections of new and existing construction and produce written documentation of the inspections. Perform follow‑up fire prevention inspections based on inspection reports. Review plans to ensure compliance with county and state codes for new construction and progressive inspections. Assist and collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies on fire prevention inspections, including annual/state fire safety inspections of state‑licensed facilities. Participate in activities related to emergency management during a local state of disaster, as directed by county managers. Minimum Job Requirements High school diploma or GED. Two years of job‑related experience. Strong computer, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with the public, colleagues, and elected officials. Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, and to complete assigned tasks within tight deadlines. Valid certifications: TCFP Inspector, TCFP Plans Examiner, NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800. Preferred certifications: TCFP Structure Fire Fighting, TCOLE Basic Peace Officer. Salary Starting hourly range: $33.60 – $42.00, based on qualifications.
