The Opportunity We are partnering with organizations in Coopersville that are seeking Welding Engineers. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain welding procedures and specifications to ensure quality and efficiency. Oversee welding operations, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical guidance to welding personnel. Select appropriate welding processes, equipment, and consumables for various manufacturing applications. Conduct root cause analysis of weld defects and implement corrective actions. Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and customer requirements. Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to optimize weldments for manufacturability and performance. Train and mentor welders and technicians on best practices and new welding technologies. Evaluate and recommend new welding equipment and technologies to improve productivity and quality. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in welding process development, optimization, and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of various welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, FCAW) and their applications. Familiarity with welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO) and their implementation. Experience with welding inspection techniques and non‑destructive testing (NDT) methods. Proficiency in welding simulation software and CAD/CAM tools. Bonus Qualifications Experience with advanced welding processes like electron beam welding or friction stir welding. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and their application to welding operations. Certification in Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) methods relevant to welding. Experience with robotic welding system programming and optimization. Knowledge of metallurgy and material science as it pertains to weldability of exotic alloys.
