Supporting the engineering efforts of a materials development team, the remote contract Weld Engineer will manage weld development activities, including laboratory testing and manufacturing process development for sodium-cooled fast reactors. Key responsibilities Interface with project teams to provide welding configuration and methods guidance for reactor development programs Develop weld designs and specifications using fundamental welding engineering principles for reactor design and licensing Perform scientific analysis of test data and generate technical reports to validate models of material and weld performance Required qualifications Minimum of 3 years of related experience with a B.S. degree or 2 years with an M.S. degree; or equivalent experience Degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related technical discipline is desired Experience with weld engineering for new design and determining geometries and weld methods for welded components Working knowledge of ASME NQA-1 and ASME Section IX is highly desirable Thorough understanding of metallurgy, including welding and heat treatment of ferrous and nonferrous alloys
