Job Description

About Us:

At Alpine Academy, we provide a structured, supportive, and family-style environment for teens who are working through moderate mental health, behavioral, and academic challenges. Our students may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment difficulties, or emotional dysregulation. Students from around the world are enrolled in Alpine Academy to focus on their potential and return home or graduate from high school to lead successful and healthy lives.

We believe that, with the right environment and support, every student can grow, heal, and strengthen their own lives. By building trust and developing essential life skills, our students gain the resilience needed to overcome their challenges and achieve meaningful progress.

Why This Work Matters:

As a Teen L.I.F.E Coach (Learning in a Family Environment), you will:
  • Cultivate Meaningful Relationships: You'll build strong, consistent relationships with students and see them through their highest and lowest moments.
  • Provide a Safe, Supportive Space: As their home away from home, you will create an environment where they can struggle, try again, and ultimately succeed.
  • Communicate with Families: You'll collaborate with parents and other treatment providers to support their child's progress and how they are learning and growing.
  • Celebrate Progress: You'll have the chance to witness and support each student's journey of improvement, including failures, challenges, healing, and growth.
About the Role:

As a Teen L.I.F.E Coach, you will be part of a dedicated team that guides teens through pivotal moments of their lives. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in behavioral health, mentorship, interpersonal skills, and family-style treatment - skills that are valuable in any career, especially for those pursuing mental health licenses and degrees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to teens in daily activities, promoting positive behaviors, relationship-building, and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans and ensure consistency of care.
  • Facilitate group sessions and workshops on life skills, coping strategies, and effective communication.
  • Participate in daily routines with students, such as shared meals, activities, chores, and outings to promote a supportive, family-style environment.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of student progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Promote our core values of dignity, positivity, excellence, stewardship, and helpfulness in all interactions.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Emotional resilience and dedication to supporting youth through their challenges.
  • Reliability and availability to work evenings and weekends.
  • At least 21 years old
  • Be capable of performing physical restraints if necessary. Although they are rarely used we require all employees be trained to ensure the safety of our youth
  • Have, and be willing to provide proof of, a high school diploma/GED
  • Have a valid drivers license
  • Ability to pass a mandatory background check
Preferred:
  • Experience in coaching, mentorship, teaching, healthcare, or related fields (e.g., CNA, autism specialist, teacher, youth counselor).
  • Relevant coursework or certifications in psychology, social work, education, or counseling.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Hourly Wage: Starting at $18/hr.
  • Overtime: Consistent full time hours, opportunities for overtime, double time holidays
  • PTO: Flex PTO program with opportunities to cash out unused balances.
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance: Comprehensive coverage to support your well-being.
  • Retirement Contribution: Company 5% contribution after one year of employment, increasing to 15% after ten years.
  • Commuter Mileage Incentive: For commutes over 20 miles (conditions apply).
  • Mental Health Resources: Free access to the Headspace app and unlimited Headspace coaching for you and 5 dependents.
  • Non-Profit Benefits: Qualify for federal student loan programs or other initiatives for non-profit employees.
  • Opportunities for Overtime & Professional Growth: Gain skills that can be applied to any career path.
What You'll Love About This Job:
  • Impactful Work: You'll make a lasting difference by mentoring teens through some of the hardest days of their lives.
  • Family-Like Environment: Work in a beautiful setting where students and staff share meals, activities, outings, and responsibilities.
  • Personal Growth: Develop skills in behavioral health, mentoring, communication, and resilience.
  • Supportive Culture: Work with a dedicated team that collaborates, supports, and celebrates success.
  • Beautiful Setting: Enjoy a stunning campus surrounded by mountains and horses, providing a peaceful and inspiring work environment.
