Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A Special Education Teacher opportunity is available in Detroit, MI, to support students with mild to moderate needs at a K-5 educational institution focused on art and design. This contract position runs through June 12, 2026, with an immediate start.

The role involves working directly with students to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to their unique learning profiles. The teacher will collaborate closely with staff and families to ensure that educational goals are met effectively within the classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute, and monitor IEPs in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Provide individualized and group instruction tailored to students educational needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and parents to support student progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate updates regularly.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Michigan Special Education Certification with appropriate endorsement.
  • Experience working with students exhibiting mild to moderate special education needs is preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students in a diverse classroom setting.
  • Commitment to supporting student growth and adapting instructional methods as needed.
