Muleshoe Buildings is a metal building manufacturer and turnkey builder. We design, fabricate, and erect our own building systems across Texas.

We are growing rapidly and building a company designed for scale.

We are hiring a Metal Building Design & Detailing Specialist to own the technical backbone of our building system.

This is not just a drafting position, this is a high-impact role responsible for improving how our buildings are designed, detailed, fabricated, and built.

The Mission of This Role

To ensure every project is:

• Technically sound
• Fabrication-ready
• Buildable in the field
• Efficient in material usage
• Optimized for margin and repeatability

You will sit at the intersection of:

Sales → Engineering → Fabrication → Field Operations

What You Will Own

Building System Design & Layout

• Finalize structural framing layouts
• Confirm bay spacing, secondary framing, and connection logic
• Detail framed openings and trim transitions
• Produce clean, dimensioned shop drawings

Fabrication-Ready Detail Packages

• Structural member callouts
• Connection details
• Plate details
• Bolt and hardware schedules
• Secondary framing breakdown
• Shop cut lists (when required)

Pre-Construction Technical Review

• Identify scope gaps before fabrication
• Validate anchor bolt plans
• Coordinate slab/foundation tie-ins
• Ensure projects are fully build-ready before release

System Improvement

• Identify inefficiencies in our building system
• Standardize connection details
• Improve repeatability
• Reduce waste and scrap
• Improve erection efficiency
• Support long-term product evolution

This role is both execution and innovation.

Required Experience

• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
• Experience detailing structural steel or pre-engineered metal buildings
• Deep understanding of PEMB framing systems
• Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings
• Understanding of:
  • Primary vs secondary framing
  • Purlins and girts
  • Base angles and anchor bolt plans
  • Framed openings
  • Trim and flashing systems
  • Structural connections
• Strong spatial reasoning and construction logic

Field erection experience is a major advantage.

Experience working for a metal building manufacturer is highly preferred.
