Mental Health Counselor / Social Worker Research Associate Location: Hybrid (part‑time, 15 hours per week) with travel up to 4 days per week within 1.25 hours of Providence, RI. Reports to: Principal Investigator, Hassenfeld Institute. Key Responsibilities Engage in the Mood Check school screening project, traveling to schools in Rhode Island and Massachusetts to deliver educational sessions and conduct follow‑up assessments with adolescents who report symptoms of depression. Conduct research screenings, clinical assessments, follow‑up interviews, and motivational interviews in English and Spanish with study participants and their parents or guardians. Serve as a culturally and linguistically appropriate liaison between students, families, school personnel, and the research team to meet program objectives. Provide periodic evening clinical coverage for the study team as needed. Qualifications Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. 2‑5 years of clinical experience and current independent licensure as a mental health counselor (LMHC) or clinical social worker (LCSW) licensed in Rhode Island. Willingness to apply for Massachusetts licensure upon request. Proficiency in English and Spanish, with demonstrated ability to conduct clinical interviews and documentation in both languages. Experience working with children and adolescents in school or clinical settings. Job Competencies Engage professionally with students and families in Spanish‑speaking educational environments. Document clinical observations and assessment findings in English based on interviews conducted in Spanish. Conduct outreach and follow‑up calls in Spanish to engage families in the screening and referral process. Serve as a linguistic bridge between the research team and Spanish‑speaking community stakeholders to facilitate project goals and participant retention. Exhibit strong communication skills, both written and verbal, even under short deadlines. Maintain strong interpersonal skills and develop relationships with diverse partners. Demonstrate technical clinical skills and complete documentation in REDCap, a secure web‑based database compliant with HIPAA and FERPA. Accurately write and report analyses and reviews. Be observant, self‑motivated, and able to think critically and problem‑solve while managing time effectively. Possess a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to off‑site locations.
