Job Description

Health Physicist/Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) Location: Miami, FL Salary: Based on training and location Hours: Full-time / full benefits Website: Primary Responsibilities Provide radiation safety and health physics consultation to clients. Assist client personnel with radiation safety duties to ensure regulatory compliance. Perform radiation safety audits in nuclear medicine, radiology, oncology, and research labs. Serve as Radiation Safety Officer (RSO). Support the Radiation Safety Committee and other related committees requiring RSO expertise (Human Use Research, Environment of Care, IACUC, etc.). Assist clients with managing Category1 or2 sources per10CFR37 requirements. Perform dosimetry and ALARA reviews and investigations, worker and patient dose estimates, and fetal dose estimates. Oversee source inventory, leak testing, and other QC testing of instruments and equipment. Assess and verify shielding needs for radiation sources. Ensure proper storage, packaging, shipping, and transportation of LLRW and retired sources. Review radiation safety policies and procedures for normal operations and emergency response. Supervise and delegate duties to radiation safety technical staff and other support staff. Support periodic diagnostic radiology equipment testing and patient dose estimates as requested by Medical Physicists. Other related duties as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's (B.S.) or Master's (M.S.) degree in Health Physics or a related discipline such as Medical Physics, Nuclear Engineering, etc. 5+ years of full‑time Health Physics experience across medical, applied health physics, research, academia, and industrial applications. RSO‑eligible with documented evidence of qualifications for 10CFR35.100, 35.200, 35.300, 35.400, 35.500, 35.600, and 35.1000 (or equivalent Agreement State codes). Near‑ready candidates may be considered with established preceptor links and an acceptable training plan. Experience auditing and maintaining a radiation safety program for X‑ray producing equipment, including medical and analytical accelerators; serve as X‑ray RSO as required. Proficiency with operation and data analysis of radiological instruments for alpha, beta, neutron, and photon measurements; oversee calibration of radiological instruments. Ability to understand and apply regulations from various State and federal entities and write effective policies, procedures, and Radiation Safety Manuals. Solid foundation in radiation physics, radiation biology, electronics, and other areas relevant to equipment quality assurance testing. Familiarity with emerging radiopharmaceutical and brachytherapy applications. Strong written and oral communication skills at all organizational levels. Strong technical proficiency, ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently, strong attention to detail, and delivery of exceptional client service. Excellent time‑management and organizational skills. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); general computer skills; familiarity with Apple macOS is a plus.
