Fire Inspector - Fire Marshal's Office (Part-Time) The Borough of Red Bank is accepting applications for a Fire Inspector to work in the Fire Marshal's Office under the direction of the Fire Marshal. This is a part‑time position, working up to 29 hours per week. The Fire Inspector is responsible for enforcing the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code through inspections of commercial, industrial, institutional, multifamily, and other regulated occupancies to ensure compliance with applicable laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards. Salary range $23.19 to $33.30 p/hr commensurate with qualifications and experience. A complete job specification is attached. Responsibilities: Conducting fire safety inspections and re-inspections of commercial, industrial, institutional, multifamily, and other regulated occupancies. Enforcing the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code and applicable fire safety regulations, including identifying fire and life safety hazards and recommending corrective actions. Preparing inspection reports, notices of violation, orders, and other related documentation. Maintaining accurate inspection records, files, and electronic recordkeeping systems. Investigating complaints relating to fire code compliance and fire safety concerns. Conducting follow-up inspections to verify corrective actions have been completed. Assisting with fire prevention education, public outreach activities, and responding to inquiries regarding fire code requirements. Utilizing electronic recordkeeping, permitting, and inspection systems. Performing other related duties as assigned by the Fire Marshal. Qualifications: 2 years' experience in fire prevention, fire inspections, code enforcement, fire investigations, building inspections, construction inspections, or related field. High school diploma or equivalent. Valid New Jersey Driver's License. New Jersey Fire Investigator Certification/License preferred but not required. Knowledge of the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code and applicable fire safety regulations. Strong communication, organizational, and recordkeeping skills. Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records. Ability to work independently and interact professionally with property owners, contractors, business operators, and members of the public.
