Position Title Assistant Professor of Political Science
Job Summary Assistant Professor of Political Science The Department of History and Political Science at Tuskegee University seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Political Science beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will play a central role in leading and advancing the department's minor in Public Policy and Public Administration, which serves as a feeder to Tuskegee University's Integrated Public Policy and Development Program (IPPD). The candidate will help strengthen the minor through curriculum development, student mentoring, and engagement with the broader policy community.
Essential Job Duties - Teach undergraduate courses including, Introduction to Political Science and/or American Government, Quantitative Methods, Policy Analysis and Writing, and Additional courses aligned with departmental needs and the candidate's expertise.
- Build relationships and opportunities for students in the Public Policy and Public Administration minor at the state and federal levels, including exposure to public service, policy, and professional pathways.
- Maintain an active program of scholarship, pursue publication in peer-reviewed outlets, and demonstrate an interest in seeking external funding in support of research and program development.
Preferred Qualifications - Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
- Evidence of effective undergraduate teaching.
- Demonstrated potential for scholarly research and publication

Skills and Attributes - Knowledge of Public Policy/Public Administration.
- Ability to teach quantitative methods or applied policy courses.
